About The Course
Scothurst Golf Course was founded in 1965 by Joseph Hal Kinlaw Sr. and designed by Everett Nash. Hal Sr. ran the course until his death in 2000, during that time he was rarely away from the course, except for the annual pilgrimage to Augusta GA with family and friends, for The Masters. The course is still owned and by the Kinlaw family, with long time Pro Marvin Rea handling the daily operations.
The course opened in mid-1966, and held its first Club Championship June of 1967. Scothurst was founded with the goal to allow everyone a place to enjoy a round of golf, especially its founder. Set in the pines on the edge of the Sandhills, in Lumber Bridge NC. Scothurst is conveniently located near Raeford, Hope Mills, Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Red Springs, St.Pauls, Laurinburg and Lumberton.
